COMMUNITY ACTIONPee Dee Community Action Partnership (PDCAP) Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide high-quality, integrated services that support children from birth to age five and their families. Our goal is to help every child succeed in school and life.
Head Start began in 1965 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. In 1994, the Early Head Start program was established to serve pregnant women, children from birth to age three, attempting to capitalize on evidence that these years are critical to children's development. Early Head Start promotes healthy prenatal outcomes, healthy families and infant and toddler development beginning as early as birth.
Medical and dental home, screenings, immunizations, wellness care, and prenatal support for healthy children and families.
Nutritious meals and snacks, special dietary needs, infant formula, and menus planned by a Nutrition Manager and approved by a Registered Dietitian.
School readiness through The Creative Curriculum, learning through play, active exploration, and support for children with special needs.
Family goals, parent committees, trainings, fatherhood engagement, volunteering, and ReadyRosie® to support strong families and school readiness.
Ensuring services for the neediest families with full enrollment and consistent attendance to support children's success.
Inclusive learning, early screening, referrals, and on-site interventions. Working with partners to meet the special learning needs of children.
Promoting social and emotional well-being through observations, consultations, trainings, and collaborative partnerships.
Safe transportation in Florence, Marion, and Dillon counties. Transportation is not provided for Early Head Start centers.
Safe, clean, welcoming facilities in 15 facilities located throughout the three-county service area—licensed and meeting Head Start Program Performance Standards.
Volunteers share their time and talents in classrooms and with administrative support. Volunteers help build relationships, serve as role models, and help us meet our 20% non-federal match.
